My Time Has Come To An End
By SimGHOSTS President Scott Crawford
My time has come to an end, as every great experience must. While I step aside as President to allow new energy and vision to come forward to the leadership of SimGHOSTS, I will not be leaving the simulation technology and operations community. I have been fortunate to work with dedicated and innovative leaders in healthcare simulation technology and operations and to contribute to this great organization, profession, and the passionate community of techs that make it wonderful. Thank you all for supporting this great organization and continuing to do so in the future.
SimGHOSTS is more than a technical support group to me. The leadership and individuals I have gotten to know are a dedicated and passionate group who came together to not just improve the lives of patients, but the quality of education available to medical providers and the support for the field of simulation technology specialists around the world. The attendees of the events and webinars in which I have participated are a gracious and eager group. They absorb knowledge and innovate and improve upon what they encounter.
Since being nominated to assume a leadership position, I have watched SimGHOSTS expand to become a global name and resource for simulation. SimGHOSTS has explored new relationships and worked to the highest level of collaboration with groups around the world to elevate the role of the healthcare simulation technology specialist (HSTS). We have strived to empower the innovative spirit and highlight the importance of the person who can find the answer and fix the problem in any role and setting as that is what our community does every day.
In the last two and half years, we have become active members of the Global Network for Simulation in Healthcare (GNSH) - a summit of simulation healthcare organization leadership from academic to corporate working to improve the adaption and use of simulation, held cooperative meetings with the European Society for Simulation Applied to Medicine (SESAM), SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Medical Simulation (SIMS)gHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Medical Simulation (SIMS), and Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH); and contributed to the recently released INACSL Standards of Best Practice: Simulationsm.
SimGHOSTS has become affiliate partners with other healthcare groups including: Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), International Pediatric Simulation Society (IPSS), Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH), Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE), International Nursing, Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Simulation Australasia, Patient Safety Movement Foundation, Pan Asia Simulation Society in Healthcare (PASSH).
As the baton is passed I am touched by the opportunity I have had to provide blogs, lectures and personal experiences with all who contribute to our community. If you are passionate about what you do, reach out get involved and stay in touch as the next generation of leaders and innovators are likely reading this now. Farewell and I look forward to seeing you all at the next simulation event, where it may be.
