Simulation Champion Award Winner for June 2019

Congratulations to the SimGHOSTS Simulation Champion for June: Richard Pinto, Simulation Operations Specialist at Vancouver Coastal Health.

Proud colleagues have described Richard as the backbone to the success of the Coastal Simulation Program at Vancouver Coastal Health. He finds a way to make things happen and can be relied upon to keep the show on the road. Like many simulationists, Richard thrives in busy, ever-changing environment with an outwardly calm demeanor that provides reassurance to colleagues and learners, and reaffirms his confidence and competence in handling any technical crisis.

Richard is first to volunteer to support special events and represent the Coastal Simulation Program, such as at the recent National Forum on Simulation For Quality and Safety held in partnership with Simulation Canada.

As a passionate advocate for healthcare simulation, Richard inspires others in their work. He has even managed to inspire an individual from another area of healthcare to join a simulation program by demonstrating the rewards of working in an exciting and meaningful simulation program.

Richard will receive an Award Certificate and a 3 month SimGHOSTS subscription for his nomination. Each July, voting for the Simulation Champion Trophy is opened featuring the monthly award winners from the previous 12 months. The winner is announced at our USA event in August and receives a trophy and a free registration to a SimGHOSTS event of their choice the following year.
