SimGHOSTS Event Director Ryan Eling and Laerdal Medical's Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand Graeme Folds were happy to welcome Dr. Carolyn Yucha as the Keynote Speaker at SimGHOSTS 2015 AUS. Dr. Yucha brought a wealth of experience, knowledge and innovation within healthcare simulation through her work with the Nevada System of Higher Education in creating the Clinical Simulation Center of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, a partnership between UNLV, Nevada State College and the University of Nevada School of Medicine.

About Dr. Carolyn Yucha
Carolyn Yucha's primary role is administration; however, she has taught research methods and grant writing online at the doctoral level and transitions to practice at the undergraduate level. As the dean, Yucha is responsible for the UNLV nursing program. Under her guidance, the School of Nursing offers educational programs for the basic BSN degree, MSN degrees with Nurse Practitioner and Education tracks, a Ph.D. in Nursing, and a Doctor of Nursing practice degree. Her research focuses on physiological stress reactions. She received research funding from the National Institutes of Health to study the use of biofeedback-assisted relaxation training in the treatment of hypertension. She has expertise in stress monitoring, using such variables as ambulatory blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, skin conductance, skin temperature, and muscle electrical activity. She recently completed a funded study to measure the physiological responses to gambling in women. Currently, she's exploring ways to reduce stress in nursing students. Dr. Yucha has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, six chapters, and a monograph, and she is editor of the scientific peer-reviewed journal Biological Research for Nursing. She is also a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
