Continuing their wonderful support, Pocket Nurse has partnered with The Gathering of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists (SimGHOSTS) to provide scholarships to the SimGHOSTS 2020 USA Event occurring August 4th - 7th at the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing in Dallas TX.
Pocket Nurse (www.PocketNurse.com) is the world's leading supplier of medical supplies for education and simulation and a proud supporter of those operating medical simulation labs. For the seventh year in a row, Pocket Nurse is continuing its sponsorship of the SimGHOSTS USA conference by providing two $1,500 scholarships to individuals/institutions in need. These scholarships are designed to support conference attendance, encouraging participation in the development and advancement of those operating medical simulation facilities.
Applications have closed and the successful applicants will be notified in early May.
The 2019 Pocket Nurse Scholarship Winners were:
Lisa Maskus, like many before her, stumbled upon a simulation technologist position and applied because it looked so interesting. She was instantly hooked and has used her resourcefulness and enthusiasm to learn as much as she can about the role in the short time since joining the profession. Lisa hoped that by attending SimGHOSTS she would encounter many opportunities to learn and network with peers so that she can strengthen the support she provides at the SCL Health St Joseph Hospital simulation program in Denver CO.
After attending Lisa said, "Upon leaving SimGHOSTS 2019, I felt excited and invigorated about where my career in simulation is headed and I feel better prepared thanks to the knowledge I gained."
Steven Henley started his simulation career as a standardized patient at New York Institute of Technology in Jonesboro, Arkansas as a part time supplement to his regular job as a dispatcher. His passion for simulation meant that he was soon promoted to lead standardized patient and became involved in the integration of simulation technology into SP simulations and the use of moulage in simulations. Steven is now also involved as a simulation operator and standardized patient trainer.
Steven will be presenting a workshop at SimGHOSTS X 2020 in Memphis Medical Simulation Tools for Beginners: A novel approach to teaching medical terminology and equipment to entry level simulation staff.
